Black Velvet 3M Grip is still an excellent choice for large-diameter body hoops (36″ and up). We’ll continue to use it on our Adult Body Hoops, where it performs beautifully — and it’s still included in the price.
For smaller-diameter Polypro and HDPE hoops, however, the adhesive that bonds Miracle Grip to the tubing is far superior. It lasts significantly longer. For that reason, we’ll no longer offer Black Velvet 3M Grip as an add-on and encourage you to experience Miracle Grip instead.
Low-Profile 3M Grip, on the other hand, was never ideal for hoops — it was simply the only clear option available after 3M discontinued their original tape. It’s stiff and scratchy. We carried it for years out of necessity, but now that Miracle Grip exists, there’s simply no reason to keep it around. We’re retiring it completely and replacing it with something that finally performs the way hoopers deserve.
